Making Commitments Matter: The Power of Youth

Currently youth (people in the age of 15-24) represent approximately 18% of the world population. They have aspirations, ideas, will and the energy to create social, economic and technological change. But their potential is being limited by barriers to education, health, employment, safety etc.
Recognizing the power of youth and the need to address their critical issues is the International Youth Day. Do you know which date is it? 12th of August! The first International Youth Day was celebrated in 2000. And this year (2006) youth day was dedicated to 'Takling Poverty Together'. [Are you and your friends involved in the mission?]
`Making Commitments Matter´is a toolkit developed by the United Nations Youth programme to help you evaluate your country´s youth policies and review what has been done since 1995 to better the lives of young people in your community. The evaluation criteria is based on the priorities listed by World Programme of Action for Youth [Use Toolkit]
